AL4021 Determination of HCHO Content
In many cases the total content of formaldehyde in a sample is of interest. This can be determined by evaporation of formaldehyde at elevated temperatures either in a small oven (like the Micro-Chamber µCTE) or by thermal desorption. In the plot vs. time this shows up as peak with an exponential decay flank. The total content of HCHO is calculated by integration over the peak an calculation the content regarding the gas flow and other physical parameters. The figure below shows several HCHO peaks after thermal desorption of MDF samples at 120°C using a Markes Thermal Desorber.
